SUMMER CAMP

Summer 2025 Hoodie

We are the only club in the UK to offer a National Lifesaving Academy Summer Camp. Each year we take between 20 and 40 club members aged 10 years and over to the Lakes and complete our Still Water awards along with Open Water Lifeguard Qualifications for those aged 16 years and over. Camp is the highlight of our year.

Our annual summer camps started in 2009 with 4 leaders and 7 children as a test camp for 2 nights. 2020 was going to be our biggest camp which was unfortunately cancelled due to Covid. Camp's resumed in 2022 and are growing in numbers again.

The camp includes a wide range of activities changed each year including Go Ape, Go Karting, Human Bowling, Quad Biking, Sailing, Kayaking and team building activities. Along with CPR, First Aid and water based rescue training in the lake. We attract a lot of attention and in 2016 we even had ITV News Cumbria come along and interview and film our members on drowning prevention which also aired on ITV Tyne Tees.

Each year camp has a different colour and members are keen to vote on their uniform colour of choice. 2025 will see us in Lime green polos and Sapphire blue hoodies.

Campers also decide on the choice of activities that they do whilst away, In 2025 ghyll scrambling, kayaking and stand up paddle boarding are back on the agenda. â€‹â€‹
